February 16th, 2022 - Since launching the Algorand Foundation Grant Program, we have received many submissions, globally, from developers and innovators eager to participate in the expanding Algorand Ecosystem. After a thorough review and selection process, we are delighted to announce Marli as the latest Grant recipient.
Marli is the global crypto marketplace for standardized carbon credits and assists companies, supply chains and commodities to decarbonize, using blockchain, crypto and AI technologies.
The world joined the Paris Climate Agreement and countries have committed to getting to net zero emissions by 2050. This can be achieved through a combination of efficiencies and offsetting. However, the offset markets are complex, lack trustworthy credits and are fragmented making offsetting a challenging process. Marli enables companies and reselling partners to achieve net zero goals in a seamless, trusted and efficient way.
Marli will use the Algorand Foundation grant towards its technology development. Algorand is the first carbon negative blockchain ecosystem and Marli has placed importance on building on a platform with the lowest fuel consumption and emissions from its mining and transactions. We’re proud to use an energy efficient blockchain to facilitate global decarbonization endeavors.
Marli.io will develop standardized crypto types and smart contracts which will enable carbon trading on external exchanges. The Algorand blockchain will be used for the on-chain recording of all carbon credits providing full transparency. Marli.io integrating with Algorand is a blockchain for good use case and provides a marketplace and solution which supports and enables carbon neutrality.
